Globe to Globe Hamlet
12 January, 19.00
Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Main Hall
For the first time in Egypt and for one night only, see this wonderfully engrossing touring production of Hamlet. On 23 April 2014 - the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth - Shakespeare's Globe Theatre embarked upon a two-year global tour taking Hamlet to every country in the world. The 'Globe to Globe Hamlet', directed by the Globe's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole, is a completely unprecedented theatrical adventure. Dromgoole said: 'Globe to Globe Hamlet was created with the aim of performing Hamlet to as many people as possible, in as diverse a range of places as possible. The central principle of the tour is that Shakespeare can entertain and speak to anyone, no matter where they are on earth; and that no country or people are not better off for the lively presence of Hamlet.'
For more information about the tour and to follow the company's long journey from London visit the Globe to Globe website.
Tickets cost LE100, LE75 and LE50, with 50% discount for students.

Famelab
31 January
The British Council and the Research, Development and Innovation Programme (RDI) are delighted to launch the 6th season of the international science communication competition, FameLab©. This exciting competition encourages young scientists to speak to wider public in an open, inspiring and interactive way.
Join the audience watching young people with a passion for science present a scientific idea, in just three minutes, to a panel of judges who will then mark them on the content and clarity of what they say and the charisma of their presentation.
Winners go through to a masterclass led by a UK media and communications expert who helps them to prepare for the grand final in Egypt. The winner of the grand final will then represent Egypt at the international final during the Cheltenham Science Festival in June.
This is your chance to join us in the FameLab audience. Check out more information on the British Council Egypt website and the full schedule and venues this season's heats on the FameLab Egypt Facebook page closer to the event date.
